Dear patients, families and friends,
It is with sadness that I announce the closing of LaGuardia Place Pediatrics effective October 14, 2016. Unfortunately after 21 years of independent pediatric practice LaGuardia Place Pediatrics has suffered the fate of many small businesses. Rising costs and increasing regulatory requirements in the face of decreasing reimbursements from medical insurance companies (not to mention increasing ‘hassle-factor’) make operating a quality small independent pediatric practice, such as LaGuardia Place Pediatrics, no longer practical.
I (Dr Papadeas) will no longer be available as your pediatrician as of Friday October 14, 2016. (Friday September 23, 2016 will be the final day I will be an in network Blue Cross provider). Until those dates I will be available for appointments to facilitate your transfer of care in addition to emergency visits, ‘sick visits’, ‘last’ Well Care visits and consultations.
It is important that you identify another pediatric provider and request to have your records transferred. As medical records are considered Protected Health Information (PHI) they may only be released upon written request by patient (if over 18) or parents/guardian (if younger than 18). To facilitate the process I have enclosed a medical record release authorization form. Please refer to FAQ attached. Additionally, your new provider may access all immunization records via NYC’s CityWide Immunization Registry (CIR).
This is the ‘official’ notice of closing, however I will continue to provide more detailed updates and information via email, facebook and our website LaGuardiaPlacePediatrics.com.
I assure you this decision was not an easy one. I have greatly valued our relationship and thank you for your loyalty and friendship over the years.
Best wishes for your future health,
Vicki Papadeas, MD
